pk arkitektar is an Icelandic architecture and design studio established in 1986 by Palmar Kristmundsson. After studying in both Japan and Denmark, Kristmundsson now has an office which works on a wide range of projects throughout northern Europe.
The firm has won acclaim for the Icelandic embassy in Berlin, which the Architectural Review described by saying “the austere, grand landscape of Iceland is evoked in a little building which veers from abstraction to perhaps excessive realism.” The simple lines and monolithic blocks characteristic of his designs harmonize and provide counterpoint to the harsh icelandic landscape.
pk arkitektar’s Birkimörk Halfway House was recently featured on ArchDaily.
