The Alaska Design Forum is proud to announce collaboration with the International Gallery of Contemporary Art (IGCA) on the design competition Object Runway 5. Object Runway is the brainchild of the International Gallery of Contemporary Art. It will be held at Bear Tooth Theater Pub on Thursday, January 23, 2014.

For Object Runway 5, 54 designers will showcase 70 designs merging the world of fashion and contemporary art. Designs showcased emphasize experimentation and the development of “objects” for a performance.

ADF’s 2014 lecture series BLING, which investigates the role of ornamentation in contemporary design, kicks off with Icelandic fashion designer Steinunn Sigurðardóttir’s lecture in Juneau on January 21. She will lecture in Fairbanks on Jan 22 and serve as one of the three judges for Object Runway 5. Steinunn will also present “Rhythm Knitting” a free workshop at IGCA on Jan 24 from 4-6 p.m., followed by a lecture at the Anchorage Museum at 7 p.m. Tickets for Object Runway 5 sold out in less than 8 hours. Designs will be showcased during the month of February at IGCA, 427 D. Street, Anchorage, opening first Friday, February 7.
