Announcing the FUTURE TENTS Design Challenge

future tense

The ADF is excited to announce the FUTURE TENTS design challenge, in association with the Anchorage Museum. FUTURE TENTS encourages entrants to develop contemporary ‘tent’ designs which present solutions to inhabiting our northern wilderness or re-think temporary outdoor structures. FUTURE TENTS follows on the success of last year’s CABIN FEVER design challenge.

Three winning FUTURE TENTS design submissions will receive fabrication assistance, and be exhibited at the Anchorage Museum. Prior to submitting designs, participants can choose to attend a related lecture and workshop.

Registration is open now, and closes on  January 11, 2016. See the FUTURE TENTS page for more info:

Kick-off Party

The future is now, and it’s happening after-hours at the Anchorage Museum on November 13th, from 6pm to midnight, as we celebrate the possibilities of a future North full of art and community — by design.

Envision the future Arctic during an evening of pop-up art installations, games and family activities throughout the museum. Enjoy live music and DJs. Nosh on food truck fare and edibles from Muse.  Activities for kids and families will taper off later in the evening when things shift toward the over 21 crowd, with cash bars available. Also, we’ll have a Q and A tent as a kick-off for the Alaska Design Forum’s FUTURE TENTS design challenge.
