ADF had our first in-person board retreat since 2019. This was an opportunity to reconnect, focus on our vision and programming, and continue to ensure we meet our mission—broadening in the discussion of design and the built environment in and around Alaska.

ADF was pleased to host @wadeandleta for our first speaker event for the 2022 season, UNDERCOVER, as a part of @anchoragedesignweek at the @seedlabanchorage. Their lecture sparked a lot of creativity and inspiration (not to mention laughter). We're so thankful they shared their work with our Alaska design community.
Join us this Thursday, August 24 at @seedlabanchorage for our first in-person speaking event since the before-times! In collaboration with @anchoragedesignweek we're excited to present the dynamic design duo from Brooklyn, NY - @wadeandleta
Wade and Leta make music for your eyes. Their studio combines purposeful eclecticism and performative design to create satisfying and emotional visuals ranging from conventional identities to colorfully charged compositions and installations utilizing all disciplines.
Doors open at 5:30pm, where we’ll kick off with cocktails and bites. And stay after the lecture for PechaKucha at 8pm.

Join us to be inspired by visual presentations from local creatives as part of an evening with ADF at Anchorage Design Week.

In the natural environment, some things are obvious: the color of the sky, the time of year, the direction of the sun. In the built environment, sometimes things are not so clear. UNDERCOVER explores hidden meanings in the designed environment, ambiguity and mystery in branded imagery, incognito uses of public space, and design secrets that hide behind the surface of the things. In the course of our UNDERCOVER season, we will be exploring the proverbial 'cover of the book,' and whether or not it really tells us what's inside.
ADF is pleased to host the following world-class guests to further explore this theme:
• @wadeandleta — August 25 at 6pm (SEED Lab in Anchorage)
• @scottandscottca — September 21/22/23 (Anchorage/Fairbanks/Juneau)
• @morkulnesarchitects — November 9/10/11 (Anchorage/Fairbanks/Juneau)
Stay tuned for more details, and we look forward to our first in-person events since 2020.

August 24 – 28, 2022
Mark your calendars as we celebrate the seventh-annual gathering of perspectives, expertise, and inspirations in design, celebrating its positive impacts in our communities during Anchorage Design Week, with series of events scheduled for Wednesday August 24 through Friday, August 28, 2022.
Anchorage Design Week is an annual gathering of creative minds to promote and provoke design, collaborate, and imagine the future of our city and the landscapes and lifeways of Northern regions. Design Week presents new faces and phenomena in design and highlights both local and international conversations through professional development opportunities and public events. This year’s forum prompts questions, considers processes, and suggests possible solutions for how systems, objects and experiences are designed, executed, repaired, modified, undone, or reconfigured.
We look forward to announcing speakers and public programming on this channel and in collaboration with Anchorage Design Week organizing partners, the @anchoragemuseum @alaskadesignforum and @aigaalaska
Anchorage Design Week is a member of @worlddesignweeks an international organization connecting member design communities and audiences who are #unitedbydesign.
