The Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Alaska Design Forum and the International Gallery of Contemporary Art are pleased to offer a presentation of work created by the studio Franz Mayer of Munich. Erica Behrens, Director of their New York Office, will present and discuss various completed projects worldwide and explain the variety of techniques and unique collaborative approach this studio offers. We invite local artists, architects and designers interested in working in the public realm to attend.

Alaskan artists Pat Shelton and Sheila Wyne will join her to discuss their recent collaborations with the Mayer studio for major public projects in Anchorage. Each will present a visual story of their personal experience with this unique fabricator/studio: the translation, fabrication and installation process of their mosaic works.

About Franz Mayer of Munich

Founded in 1847, Franz Mayer of Munich maintains its reputation of working with the highest quality standards to continuously develop new artistic and architectonic expressions. After over 160 years, this family business is still dedicated to restoring the historic while creating unique contemporary projects for artists and architects worldwide. The designs executed are more often the work of independent artists and designers rather than those generated in-house.
