ADF Wins AIA Award

ADF recognized for elevating the profile of art and design

The Alaska Design Forum has won a 2010 Collaborative Achievement Award from The American Institute of Architects (AIA). The jury noted the ADF’s “exceptional list of internationally renowned speakers with great depth and profound contributions to the field of architecture. The Alaska Design Forum, through its volunteer contributions and its collaborative efforts through various media, has served to nurture local architects, designers and artists in an otherwise isolated part of the world”.

Other notable comments from the jury:

Alaska’s remoteness may be motivational for the ADF, as it has worked hard and commendably to host events and bring in speakers of national and international acclaim that help immensely to elevate the profile of design and the arts in Alaska.

Alaska has a small yet highly active design community that is strengthened and connected through the ADF. The broader public also benefits from the forum’s many activities.
