The name Biotope comes from the Greek words ́bios ́ and ́topos,’ and reflects the architect’s viewpoint: Biotope aims to connect people and nature through architecture. Biotope specializes in designing small scale pieces of architecture dedicated to experiencing nature, like bird hides, wind shelters, and bivouacs. Their design solutions are characterized by being open and inviting, aiming at creating a deeper connection with nature. Functioning in many cases more like ́destination developers, ́ Biotope works with businesses and communities on developing and building destination concepts. In the up coming talk series, they will share both the Biotope story, their work in Arctic Norway, and some thoughts on working as architects in northern communities.
